I’m absolutely delighted ‘Loved Into A New Hope’ has been selected for Green & Stone of Chelsea’s Summer Exhibition this August.

‘NEW BEGINNINGS’

This year’s theme, ‘New Beginnings’ will be exploring the theme of change, upheaval and new growth within the context of lockdown, isolation and the easing of restrictions; and will feature work by established and emerging artists.

This year the Green & Stone Summer Exhibition was judged by esteemed art critic William Packer, an Honoury Fellow of the RCA, at the Chelsea art gallery on Fulham Road. William began his career in 1969 and was leading art critic for the Financial Times for 30 years. I was over the moon to hear I’d made the shortlist!

MY THOUGHTS ON ‘LOVED INTO A NEW HOPE’

‘Loved Into a New Hope’ is an impressionistic landscapes painted during the the lockdown after a evening stroll near Trelissick Gardens in Cornwall.

Life, even the more so during the pandemic, has been full of uncertainty and fears. When we all feel it inviting more love into our lives can help. Not only for that much needed sense of connection to others, but to bring us into new places of hope again.

Even in the midst of fear love, inch-by-inch, can push out fear to make room for new hope and fresh confidence to grow again. A confidence that good will be seen before you, even if all you can see is just a glimmer of it right now.

That glimmer of hope is worth nurturing and protecting whilst you wait and as you move courageously one foot in front of the other.

Sometimes those steps ahead can can feel like an overwhelming void. Instead of filling it with fear I wanted to paint an unwritten melody, a hope-filled song, for the steps we’re yet to tread through the coming days, an invitation to step into more beauty.

Like music lifts the listener, I wanted to create harmonies with colour, movement & light to sing a song to fill the parts your story we’re yet to write.
